FAQs

Substitutes

Light brown sugar: You can use regular brown sugar instead of light brown sugar.

Watching your blood sugar? Or about calories or carbs? Then use your favorite sugar substitute. I like Swerve Sweetener, Brown and Truvia Sweet Complete Brown.

Choosing a salmon filet

When choosing a salmon filet, look for a firm filet that springs back when touched. It shouldn't be mushy or fishy-smelling. Additionally, you should look for bright-colored flesh.

Fresh salmon can be stored in the refrigerator for up to two days. Otherwise, choose frozen salmon since it will keep longer.

Should you buy farm-raised or wild-caught salmon? Farm-raised salmon is more affordable and easier to find at the grocery store.

Wild salmon has a richer flavor and firmer texture but is more expensive. Ultimately, your decision will come down to taste preference and budget constraints.

How to serve

You can serve this flavorful fish with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice or some homemade tartar sauce.

Try these low-carb side dishes for a delicious meal:

  • Oven Roasted Vegetables (use low-carb veggies like peppers, green beans, cauliflower, and fresh garlic cloves)
